Eternity

A Teacher

Luminel talks to the young Becquerel Wiloc

“Go you now to Telma, who will find deeper within our Forest. Go and find her, and if you should reach her, then you may find that she takes you on. If you indeed have a mind to learn from the best, then no better advice can I give you.”

“But the journey will be difficult! Impossible, even.”

“Do not complain. If you surmount all the obstacles, so you shall prove yourself to her, as I myself did two decades ago. It is the greatest honour, and you will learn more than if every Druid in the Hwal had a mind to teach you. Not that they would put up with you Wiloc!”

“Fine! If it will take that to be the best… well, I had better go.”

A Healer

Aquienos conversation overheard on board the Kaven

“Did you see that!?”

“What? We brought some passenger on board, sure.”

“Some passenger? Are you insane? That's Telma, a healer of the Becquerel, and if I hear right, the best there is on all Djemity.”

“Oh. She come to look at the Admiral then?”

“So she has, I warrant. He's not been well, and hidden it well, but now he'll live for decades more, if Telma's got anything to do with it.”

“By the stars, I hope you're right.”

A Teklo Warden speaks over a mug of ale with her companion

“That gaunt Scholar, what's his name? Izak?”

“Mmmhm.”

“Been looking better these past few days.”

“Mmmhm.”

“I warrant he's been seen to by someone at last.”

“Mmmhm.”

“You're great conversation, aren't you.”

“Just know more than you. He was visited by Telma, and we know that she'll cure anything and anyone. It's hardly surprising that the man's back on his feet and as hale and healthy as the next man.”

“Who's the next man?”

“I don't know, but he's probably been healed by Telma too.”

A Helper

A Sylphim/Teklo Chimera talks to a Kirlsa/Teklo Chimera at the edges of the Deep Mountains.

“And it is said that if you journey to that Enchanted and Damned Forest, yes the Seraphol, you will find a great many dangers. First there are the animals, who will rip you to shreds if you don't have good armour, or are quick about it. Then the trees, some of which will cut you if you don't look sharpish yourself. And up in the trees? More beasts, so flying isn't a safe option. So, if you get past the animals, and don't get cut in half, then you'll come deep into the dark woods where you might drown in a bog, or be tangled up in vines. Right, and if you get past all those, so you might come upon the very deepest part of the forest. There you will find where Telma lives, and they say that she can help you bear a child, if you're Chimera. But if you ask and she accepts (and I am told she will), that's where the horror really starts…

But as you know, having come to ask me, I have a son now. And I say that it's damn well worth it.”
