Bio still to Come.
None remain now, just the two of us. I released the crew when we passed the Novacannon. They have served loyally, but this is not their journey. I am sure Utu can put them to use in his new command. It is only thanks to Maya that this is possible, without the craft she worked upon The Kaven I would not be able to pilot her alone.
The gate will be upon us soon, and I believe these words will be my last in this record.
The guides in their own ambiguous way conveyed that time is sparse, the gates are closing again. We must go, and go now.
All my years I have sailed the depths and followed the Stars. Who could have guessed they would be so similar. The “waters” we now sail are strange to be sure, but not so dissimilar I think to those I lived my life upon in the world far beneath us.
Time is distorted here. I cannot tell how long we have journeyed for, or how far we have come. It seems at once to be both days and mere moments, I know it must be the former. I have not slept for most of it, but I tire not. Their light sustains me. As does hers. My heart. My beloved.
I find myself more and more thankful that I do not walk this path alone, that she walks by my side. I do not think I would have come this far on my own. More likely I would have withdrawn from our people and laid myself to rest in solitude and silence. It was her notion that we do this, come here together, to this place and go through the door before it closes again. She is my own star and guide. And she has taken my name. She has never been more beautiful.
My name is Mar'Kaven'Fra and I served our people unquestioningly my entire life, taking arms against our enemies both without and within. I stood upon the Verdant Plains and watched the Obsidian Tower fall. I was there when the Kraken was banished and its taint upon our people broken. I saw the monoliths of the Numina crumble to dust upon the waves of the Starsea. But this war has left me weary, with so many lost, and so many who are now fading.
This thing we now do, we do for none other than ourselves. And I am content.
It is time. The gate is upon us. Goodbye old friend.
The light, it is so beautiful.
Final record of The Kaven
~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~
Mar'Kaven'Fra and Mar'Kaven'Mas were our greatest heroes from the War Years. They say he possessed the sharpest and finest mind Djemity has ever known, and that she was a warrior equaled only by the Kirlsa king himself. During the final stages of the Numina war he suffered a grievous wound from which he would never recover. But her love for him was so great that she persuaded the Stars themselves to intervene and save him. After the war they passed into Starlight and were never seen again. But legend has it that when the need is great enough, they will return to guide and protect us as they once did.
