Turn 12

In the world of Djemity, news travels fast, borne on the fleetest of Aquienos Ships, flown across the land in Sylphim Floating Isles, or whispered through miles of stone by Teklo Wordsmiths. Of course, as fast as news and official reports travel, rumour and hearsay are quicker to spread throughout the world.

Moonfall!

Visible from all across Djemity, the Red Moon has been broken in two. Like an egg, its insides are hollow. The smaller fragment fell to earth, hitting the Eastern Ocean.

From the words of Yest'Deina'TruEs'Mas, reporting to the Praetor Council

Reports are still coming in from the Starfall, but we expect a death toll in the thousands, perhaps in the tens of thousands. The Ports at Rockway, Tide-Pool, Moon-Bay, Cresecent Harbour, Mulberry Harbour and Navigator's Point are damaged beyond repair. We expect the six remaining major harbours to be working at near normal capacity again in three to six month's time.

Port Dawn reports that the sea has risen up to the bottom of its walls and but that it remains secure even from fifty-year storm flooding. The rest of the Eastern Isles, however, are reported to be partially or wholly submerged.

The tale of Elenn, a Becquerel Storyteller

When the great wave came, the people of Brown-copse, White-Copse and Treetops fled for the tallest trees, but only White-Copse made it. We expect to find more than fifty other communities suffering the same sorts of losses.

The salt water has washed away the mangrove swamps by the coasts entirely and now fifty miles inland we find salt-water poisoning the trees and animals. The devastation is beyond belief.

The words of Guardian Parisa, in the Mosel Desert

The Oasis of Quamin-Den is submerged completely. Where the Oasis and the fortress once stood, there is now an inland sea.

I fear that the Sandbears, unique to this area and a worthy and great foe will have been drowned entirely. The Howlers are likely gone too, washed away by the great wave. Who knows how many unique and precious creatures have been dragged from our hands by the great and terrible event.

Not to mention that thousands of Kirlsa will have drowned as the wave washed over the desert.

Eumelos and Dach elected fellows of The Djemity Wyrmslaying society

Article in Teklo papers

Following their triumphant return from slaying the great worm Thanat, Eumelos and Dach have been raised to the position of fellows in the Great Djemity Wyrmslaying Soceity. Many of their fans suggest this is long overdue, but the board of electors (who haven't so much as approached a wyrm themselves, the cowards) state that physical evidence is necessary before a wyrm kill can be claimed.

Reports have also come in of wyrmlings asking after Dach and Eumelos on the fringes of society. Are they seeking revenge?

Strange Sun Spots

Seen by all across Djemity

Part way through the season one morning the sun dawns as normal, but today it has purple sunglasses, and the start of a smile. This effect is gradually burning off, and is completely gone three days later.

The Dead Eye

Account by the Warden-Captain Koth Yos Olan to the Scholar Kan Fra Rodorok

I was checking upon the sentries on the night's watch (which was doubled, as many were troubled) when I chanced to gaze up to the sky. The clouds were clear, and I could clearly see the red moon. Or at least the position of the red moon. In its place, within the shape of the moon, a great eye stared back upon the world, gazing at me and all of Djemity. I was greatly taken ill by this, and am told by my sergeant, fell unconscious for a few seconds. When I came too, I described what I had seen and others gazed up at the moon. All there saw only the vacant darkness of the red moon. Though I declared my disbelief, I summoned a number of others, and by chance a fellow Revenant. She also saw the same as I - though not one still living could see what was plainly there.

I have taken the time to affirm my findings and have duly reported them to the Warden-General and now to yourself, Scholar.

Dead PCs: You will see a great eye in the position of the Red Moon.

Roots Return

A Becquerel storyweaver extols:

The roots are renewed! Eki has returned and the world is as it was in the time of our ancestors. As the stories of iron roots in forests and across lands have been told to me and retold at length, so I can now re-tell the story of their re-appearance.

Where have the Sylphim gone?

Imperial Declaration

In accordance with the Pursuit of Chitha and under the Oversight of the Incarnate Order the Isles of Vyse and Fylapur are to raised to the Clouds above. There to Usher in a new age of Prosperity and Progress for the Sylphim people.

Long live the Empire!

Fylapur and Vyse have both now disappeared from sight, obscured amidst the clouds. An elevator style rotation of small islets keeps some small connection with the ground possible.

Glorious War Victory

From the logs of Captain Dona'Illirya'Mas, War Fleet

… that the whole force of Numina monoliths was sunk before our eyes. Though the Obsidian Wyrm resurfaced and was taken down by the combined forces of the War Fleet and Allied forces, the victory was assuredly complete. I am still uncertain on the details of all that happened, but reports from my officers confirm that the second wave of the Numina invasion was cracked and sunk by what appeared to be a significant fragment of the red moon…

… was amazed to have had to pick up Kirlsa and Teklo warriors from pieces of the moon, as well as the famed healer of the Becquerel Telma…

… staying on now for this extra month, have had no indication that the Numina could resurface and must declare the Allied victory over this force total. No scouts of the Explorer fleet have yet reported any of the other monoliths making way in this direction…

The Magma Vortex

Sylphim Artist Ighaluu reporting his observations of the expedition

… some way from Djemity and the isle was positioned above the vortex so that I could observe the phenomenon at length. Indeed, the riot of rock and fire swirled together with the magma. Founts of steam continually defy the ocean's waves above so that the water does not touch upon the vortex itself. I have had the opportunity to observe and sketch the vortex for some time and return my artistic impressions with this report.

I believe there is a way down through the Vortex as there is clearly a central core free of lava, fire or rock. Nevertheless, I intend to take all appropriate precautions and trust that my channeling abilities and other skills will assist me. I will explore below for as long as I can and report as the circumstances permit or Chitha dictates.

It appears no further reports were received from Ighaluu

Raining Sylphim

Immediately following the 'moon incident' a heavy rain of falling debris patters down over the Southern Mosel desert. Much of the debris screams all the way down to the sands below.

A few sylphim survivors, exhausted by the efforts of their air channeling, gasp out reports of a tidal wave ripping through the clouds and their isle being spun completely upside down.

Scavengers have already descended upon the site of the fall, scouring the dead and debris for anything that may have survived intact.

Spiral Missing

From the Log of Captain Fesos'Seaban'DiTru'Mas

…we sailed West passing clear about the new continent which we'd been warned was a danger. We expected to meet ships of the Fourth Fleet returning from the venture to the upper seas, but so far nothing.

…have been searching for three days and can't find the blasted Spiral. My charts are accurate and the Navigator reports no mystical concealments, the damned thing just isn't there…

A Declaration Against the Empire

Notice posted around many of Djemity's cities and spread by word of mouth.

Any Sylphim dissatisfied - with the failure that the communal search for Chitha has been - are free to leave the corrupt institution set up by the Incarnate Order and their puppet empresses.
They should seek out Equiel and seek their own Chitha.
No Sylphim, not even those rejected by the empire, is barred from this, except those who would act against this freedom.
