Settlements of the Eastern Continent of Balas

Port Arcas

The Aquienos port of Arcas has proved to be a great centre of trade and is the first destination for most visitors to the “new world” of Balas. Traders from each of the races gather here in order to buy from or sell to the ships bound for Djemity.

Of course, not all such ships are of Aquienos construction - the Teklo and Kirlsa fleets both venture to Arcas, though in much smaller numbers than their seaborn brethren.

Rebirth, the Republic and the State

Founded in the high mountains at the centre of the continent, Rebirth is the seat of government for those settlements who consider themselves to be a part of the Renaissance Republic rather than merely acting as colonies of the races of Djemity.

It is home to a great many Teklo, with both those who followed the Wordshaper Zur Fra Rai and the Senator Ari Fra Vein taking up residence here. The great roads constructed by the Senator linking Rebirth to the other major settlements on the continent is one of the reasons that this cosmopolitan metropolis forms the second destination of many who travel here.

Many of the settlements of the Republic have joined together to form the State of the United Peoples, founded by Senator Ari Fra Vein on the principle of a more directed economy than the sometimes anarchic freedoms of the Republic.

The Republic continues to recognise this body and allow them to share the city of Rebirth as home to both nations; Wordshaper Zur's work in ensuring that the Republic welcomed all with open arms perhaps contributing to the peace which exists between them.

The Arkhivian Steppes

Much of the Arkhivian population of the world eventually returned to Balas, settling the steppe region which had previously been the home of the Sawe people. Adapting easily to this land after their difficult time in the frozen north, the Arkhivians have been peaceful and profitable trading partners of many.

Forest Enclaves

After a few years of exploration, the Becquerel who travelled to Balas began to settle the jungle region. Forming many small enclaves, these communities have been quite extroverted, especially when compared to the reclusive Seraphol Becquerel of Djemity, and often journey the continent to trade and share stories.
