====== dʒupəlʊ (formerly Jupalo)- Jack S ====== **Player:** Jack S\\ **Email:** jupalo@djemity.chaosdeathfish.com\\ **Caste:** Artist =====Eternity===== Accepting the position of Imperial Artist Extraordinary, and changing his name to The Artist Formerly Known as Jupalo, he continued to bring art and beauty into the world for the rest of his life. ==== A long life of art==== * **The closing lines of one particularly long winded speech** “And so I have invited you all here to Vyse Peak, home to the elements and forever under the gaze of the Chitha-Saints, to announce the establishment of a new body dedicated not just to the pursuit of Chitha but to expanding the means by which we may pursue it. It is with great pride that I declare the Stiletto University for the Pursuit of Inter-Racial Chitha open for business!” * **From a book review of "Fly the Beloved Isles"** "Working together with the Becquerel Storyteller Malaq the Artist Formerly Known as Jupalo has produced a masterpiece to record one of the greatest events in Sylphim history, the raising of the isles to the cloudsea. The tale really highlights the heroic deeds of the Becquerel Talioc in the name of our Empire as well as the great vision of Chitha-Saint Rylim. The writers even bring to light some events most will not be aware of, like how Talioc once slew three great Wyrms who would have attacked the isles and how Rylim managed to convert an entire army of rebels into loyalists just by looking at them. Truly a book for the newborn of the empire to read and learn!" * **Overheard at a convention in a Teklo Polis** “This is the pride of my collection. A first edition Crailth™ with accessory sunglasses and Imperial Chithana badge, still in the packaging!”\\ “Wow, that’s an old one!”\\ “Yes, I bought this one back when they were sold out of the back of a flying ship.”\\ “A flying ship.. you mean..!?”\\ “Yup. I bought it from the artist himself. He even signed it for me see?”\\ “I have to have it. I’ll pay any price.”\\ “Whoa there, this one’s not for sale…” ***A lecture given at Stiletto University** “I along with many others made the pilgrimage to see the Tree of Talioc for it is said to be the Artist Formerly Known as Jupalo’s greatest work. I expected great art but for what we saw there in the Seraphol there are no words. After studying the exquisite craftsmanship of the tree I could not stop seeing it. Chitha pulsed through every tree, every blade of grass! For a brief moment it seemed to me that all living things were beautiful art… *ahem* Anyways this field trip is required. I expect to see you all bright and early tomorrow morning and don’t forget your sketchpads.” ***Overheard at a Kirlsa campfire** “So I wouldn’t normally care about the exploits of an artist but this I just had to see for myself.”\\ “Is it true then? Did that Sun-Sylphim really carve a gift for the Divine King into the mountains of the eastern continent?”\\ “Yes, he remolded an entire mountain side to depict the mighty fight of King Eumelos and Dach.”\\ “That was a mighty fight indeed! Did the mountain do it justice?”\\ “Well… the artist really took strains to capture the.. err.. oily nature of that fight… and the poses.. I suppose an artist wouldn’t know what wrestling is supposed to look like but still…”\\ “I don’t follow. Is there something wrong with the mountain?”\\ “… You know while I was in the east I fought this giant acid-spitting snail…”\\ “Oh, let’s hear about that!” ***Excerpts from the Biography “Shades of Glory” by the historian Solaria Yoslik** “During this period of his life he continually put forth a ceaseless stream of ever more ambitious projects. For this reason it is said amongst his people that he worked twice as hard to make up for being only half a Sylphim.”\\ “While he frequently attempted to make art for the Aquienos, it’s clear the artist never truly understood the seafaring people, as evidence by his failed and rather misguided attempt to dye the oceans pink.”\\ “It should not be said that he never had time for leisure amongst all his pursuits. Quite the contrary; he was well known to be quite the lothario and tales of his escapades with the Teklo-Kirlsa Dach are told amongst young men to this day, often with outrageous embellishment. However even this was possibly an artistic pursuit; the artist fathered many children amongst the various races and often wrote fondly of how beautifully the traits of the various races could be mixed”\\ “The Artist Formerly Known as Jupalo had many children, all of whom he loved and saw fit to raise in one way or another. There were however those with whom he was far more intimately related, namely Tahlioq and Renjay, his part Becquerel twins mothered by the Becquerel Caleyll, with whom the artist was very close, and Stiletto, who was rumored to be the offspring of Empress Aysa herself, over whom the artist is said to have doted most fondly.”\\ “Upon the death of his beloved ferret Derpton the Artist Formerly Known as Jupalo fell into a rather violent period of mourning for almost a year and a half. The ferret’s body was laid to rest in the Seraphol not far from the Tree of Talioc. The ferret’s tiny sunglasses and final work of art; the enigmatic ‘Vitruvian Ferret’ are still on display at Stiletto University.”\\ “While he is often portrayed as one of the great spiritual fathers of all Chimeras it should be noted that during his life the Artist Formerly Known as Jupalo was, in his heart and soul, 100% Sylphim.” ***From the Storyteller Poet Loveborn Balaston** Every year the artist returned to Balas, every year bringing with him more seeds. \\ Every year he requested aid in the planting of these seeds and every year the trees grew.\\ \\ The birth of a new forest he claimed, the birth of a new Seraphol. \\ The birth of a new homeland for the birth of a new people. \\ \\ Who were these people? \\ What was this land? \\ \\ The people of the sky he said, the people of the trees.\\ The land of art and the land of living. \\ \\ Behold Talioc! \\ Home of the Sylpharel!\\ ====Death==== Perhaps as a result of his mixed blood, the Artist enjoyed an extremely long life by the standards of Sylphim society, living almost to his seventieth year. He had planned his funeral decades in advance, and by the time it came to pass his proteges performed his final act flawlessly. The artist's body was left upon the sun at night, and when the light returned the next morning the face upon the sun was seen to lower its glasses and wink at the world. {{tag> bio bio_sylphim bio_artist bio_eternity}}
